For oral administration Diazepam comes as a tablet (including Mylan 345 tablets), extended-release (long-acting) capsule, and concentrate (liquid) to take by mouth. Do not open, chew, or crush the extended-release capsules; swallow them whole. It usually is taken one to four times a day and may be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.

Diazepam (Valium), including Mylan 345 generic version pills, is a core medicine in the World Health Organization's "Essential Drugs List", which is a list of minimum medical needs for a basic health care system. Mylan Pharmaceuticals plays an increasingly important role in the healthcare system by making safe and effective prescription drugs more affordable for millions of customers. Last year, pharmacists filled more than 197 million prescriptions with products from Mylan in the USA, making it the #1 US-based manufacturer of generic pharmaceutical products. As you can well appreciate, when there is more than one company manufacturing and/or selling the same product, the competition generally results in cost savings for the consumer. However, until the patent expires on a name-brand drug, there is generally no competition, and therefore, little incentive for lower prices. New drugs, like other new products, are developed under patent protection. The patent protects the investment in the drug's development by giving the company the sole right to sell the drug while the patent is in effect. When patents or other periods of exclusivity on brand-name drugs are near expiration, manufacturers can apply to the FDA to sell generic versions. Mylan Generics contain the same active chemical ingredients as their name-brand counterparts and are identical in strength, dosage form (tablet, liquid, etc.), and route of administration (taken by mouth, injection, etc.).

FDA conducts about 3,500 inspections a year in all firms to ensure standards are met. Generic firms have facilities comparable to those of brand-name firms. In fact, Mylan brand-names account for an estimated 50 percent of generic drug production. They frequently make copies of their own or other brand-name drugs but sell them without the brand name.

Keep Diazepam (Valium) in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store Mylan pills, etc at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication. Mylan 345 tablets should be stored at room temperature (15°-30°C), in air-tight containers and protected from light.

If you are taking Diazepam to control seizures and have an increase in their frequency or severity, call your doctor. Your dose may need to be adjusted. If you use Diazepam for seizures, carry identification (Medic Alert) stating that you have epilepsy and that you are taking benzodiazepines.

If you take several doses per day and miss a dose, skip the missed 5mg, etc dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

The most frequent side effects of Diazepam (including Mylan 345 5mg pills) are drowsiness, fatigue, and ataxia (loss of balance). Rarely, Diazepam causes a paradoxical reaction with excitability, muscle spasm, lack of sleep, and rage. Confusion, depression, speech problems, and double vision are also rare side effects of diazepam.

You have to study these facts carefully before you start using Mylan 345 pills or any other version of Diazepam (Valium).
